:: Monday, September 30, 2002 ::

Today was an A-OK day.

Tomorrow shall be better, I hope. Must go to the bank and find a job, no biggee.

Unevent at Christopher's on Friday nite...which is in addition to Alyssa's bday party at Cara's. I shall party hop. Although that's a big effing hop. Totally worth it...I HOPE!

MMMM, I want more angel hair pasta.

XO,
Scarlet

Vanessa and I had one of the most interesting nites ever last nite. Started off at Battle of the Bands at MWC where This Boys Trouble was horribly robbed of first prize by those dickheads Here Today *worst band ever*. And they always win which is so effing stupid. Did you HEAR the first song? They had to use a lyric sheet? AND the bass player didn't even know the middle part. WTF. And This Boys Trouble had so many more people up front. Erg. I'm glad Meredith's band Pets or Meat got second though-they were fun!
Then we went to Spirits where we playedpool with some old guys (I totally kicked ass thank you very much). Then Pat came so we went out to the front. Then we hung out with some of Vanessa's "associates" and that was a lot of fun. No details here. Snoop Dogg was there, HAHAHHA. Um, who else. FREDVEGAS was there. YAYAYY! Man, if you want the detailed version you'll have to ask me, too much to type here. We also saw Andre, at Spirits AND at Denny's at 3AM where he force fed me hash browns. We also met Ben and the A-hole guy, I can't remember his name-sorry buddy. He wasn't really an A-hole. Umm, what else? Oh, then on the way home both our moms called...HAHA. So weird, but hilarius. Moms rule.

To comment a little: 60 is ALL, what else do I have to say? And it describes me, haha. 61 is a classic-bring on middle school! woohooo! 62 basically describes my college existance? Ok, thats going too far. But yeah. 63, wow, I used to listen to this song every nite before I went to sleep. Billy Corgan is a genius, I dont care what anyone thinks (blatant throw in that I shook his hand:). 64 is fun, normally scott reynolds is speeding thru the lyrics but this reminds me of this restaurant my family used to go to and a guy played the piano, what was his name? It's out past Warrenton. Memories. 65 will be forever dedicated to Adam T. Deck. 66 is a newer addition but I love it all the same...as is 67 which is I think the first ED song I heard and I really enjoyed them playing at MWC. 68 is phenomenal, SDRE is amazing. 69 makes me cry. And Van, do you remember in Delaware when Brian S played it? hehe. Cool. OK, I just realized I wrote "69 makes me cry" lets not have dirty minds please. Thanks. I can play 69 too;) Muahha, no really, I can.
Love....me

IM is the devil, It makes life that much more difficult. It's like window shopping-you can see what's there but you either have some big ass barrier between you and what you want or else it's something that you can never get. And that's so effing frustrating. What the hell am I talking about? What do I want on IM? Nothing really. I swear. I've just been in here too long. In where? wow, I'm getting to be one of those annoying bloggers who get's all whigged out or something. Mmmmm, whigged out. Haha! I should get offline. I was slowly working on getting over my dislike of cold refrigerated foods by eating the pasta salad I made the other day. But gross, I can't eat it. The olives in it aren't helping. And seeing the condensation on the lid makes me wanna hurl. It's like putting water in milk. But worse, mayonaise. Ew, I can't even talk about it. What I'd give for something cooked right about now. And yes, I know I'm insane.
I have come home in between classes to do my stats homework. But blogging is more fun. Although people on IM are pissing the hell out of me. I guess I'm taking things personally and probably because I'm bored...But if you're online then effing talk to me. And yes, I know I'm being a brat.
I never blogged about the weekend since my internet was in the fritz: It was good and bad. Started out a lot better on Friday and then went sort of blahhhhhh by Sunday nite. Happy Birthday to Vanessa though! Next up is either Buck or Pat, I can't remember who is first so please remind me.
And by the way, I'm addicted to the Smiths at the moment. Woohoooo!
Kissy kissy,

Things are getting very tricky very quickly. (Oooh, I'm a poet and didn't know it; well, sort of). Very soon there will either be an explosion (s in the sky?) or things will be A-Ok. Let's hope for the latter.
I'm starting to think that Cherry Coke is killing me. So is my inability to eat food. *sigh* This has happened before, Jr. year...let's not get into why. oooh, I love being all evasive. I did make pasta salad though, quite horrible though. I haven't eaten any-ew mayonaise, gross. But I did manage to become the first person to fuck it up. Who else can BURN something they're BOILING?! WTF? I didn't think that was possible.
I'm wearing my jeans with a hole in the knee. Is that hot;)? haha, kidding.
I put all of my band photos in my albums earlier, I can look at them for hours. And man oh man have I listened to a lot of music today. The soaps just weren't doing it for me today.
I have to go worry about things. Later!
Love and Kisses,
Scarlet

The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Thursday last nite. Tres bien. A review will go up on mine and Anna's site sometime. Lot's of shiznit went down last nite. I feel like death right now so I'm not going to get into it.
I'm skipping all of my classes today because of said 'feeling like death'. I have a Bio test tomorrow at 9:30 that I'd like a good grade on and going to class today will not help that. Besides VCU is different, it's almost expected to skip;)
Thursday nite I might go see my brother and JoBeth play (spin?) at Sauce. Friday nite is the partay at Pat's (everyone come, make my drive worth it!) OK, I have to study some.

I'd tell you about work yesterday but I don't want to bore anyone to sleep.
Mousetrap last nite was much fun! The music was some of the best in awhile. Thank you so much for playing good songs before 2:20AM. Me, Aaron (sp?) and Vanessa made up some interesting dance moves. The only thing that would have made the nite better was to have seen cuteRichmond there but that's ok, I represent. HAHA!
I'm just hanging out here for awhile, meeting at 3 to wrap up some swim team stuff, dinner then heading back to the 'mond. I'm gonna try to go watch TOD on MTV2 at my brother's. I hope it works out.
That's all, so many shows coming up. WOW!!

Things on my mind:
1. My scanner might be broken and I'm really upset. This does not work out well for the launching of mine and Anna's site.
2. I just made stir fry and it was effing good. Yay for leftover's for dinner.
3. I have a bio test next Thursday....I would be stressed but, I already have a degree;)
4. So many shows are coming up its almost overwhelming. I need to get tickets to them all but that requires money. Oy.
5. Went to Poprocks last nite at the 929, saw some of Richmond's finest *sigh* but there was no dancing, lame! Me, Katie and Robert had fun though. At least I did...
6. I can't find a few of my CDs-but isn't that always the story
7. I am out of my codeine cough syrup.
8. There will be no road trips this weekend. So I hope something else exciting goes on. Vanessa, let's go crash parties.
9. 2 more classes til the weekend, but one of those involves a quiz. Suckage
10. I can't stop myself from watching soap operas all afternoon. AHHHHHHH! But when I'm really tired all I can do is watch tv, and that's all that is on, so it's justified, right?

As a show review for Tuesday nite when I saw Burning Brides, Trail of Dead and Queens of the Stone Age:
Burning Brides were good, I was surprised a little. They had a chick bass player which is cool and the guys voice was very edgy/screamy. I hadn't realized the doors would be so early so I got there about 3 seconds before they started.
Trail of Dead were great of course. Well, on normal rock standards they completely ruled because they do that anyway. On TOD standards they sorta screwed up to be honest. I guess after having seen them 6 times before I know their songs pretty well. I could tell a few times when they missed big downbeats that are supposed to be all together. Not a big deal at all because it didn't mess them up at all. And at one point Jason lost a drum stick which sort of make a few moments interesting until the Brit roadie got it for him. Oh and the bass drum microphone kept coming out and Neil had to go over and fix it. They didn't play Relative Ways which really surprised me. I figured they had saved them for tonite but nope. Maybe it's a guitar issue? They also didn't play Mark David Chapman which makes me sad but I'll live.
Queens of the Stone Age were sort of a surprise. I guess I wasn't expecting all of the lights and set up and stuff. It was pretty though, let's just hope my pictures turn out. Their bass player is really cool, I liked him a lot. They seemed to play all the ones I really like. They have a good sound live, but it started to feel long when the gross sweaty people were moshing right next to me. And the one guy's BO about knocked me out. At this point Vanessa and I made an escape to the back and eventually made our way down to the bar downstairs. Which is where we found Conrad and Jason (drunk? haha) and Conrad offered me a shot of tequila right when he saw me which was cool. mmmmtequilammm. Let's just say I got a souvenir (thanks Van). It was nice to breathe in some fresh cool air and then we went back up to listen more and steal some posters and make a friend with some guy who thought Hot Water Music was poetry reading or something. Well, by then the show was over and we found Pat and went back to the bar for a moment and I said bye to Jason who gave me a hug and said that the crap with Anna's car getting stolen was, and I quote, "BULLSHIT!, Man, that's BULLSHIT!" haha. He also mentioned how cool Anna and I are but I dont want to get into that;) Then it was over...and I drove the 2 hours home...and did my homework.....then slept....then blindly went thru Wednesday..which pretty much takes you full circle to the beginning of this post. How do you like that? Man, what I'd give for some ice cream right about now.

Tonite is the second installment of the Trail of Dead shows in DC at the 9:30 club. I'm excited, although tired. I woke up this morning, after my first full nite's sleep in quite awhile, with a horrible headache. Migraine level headache. It made me feel sick even and I almost skipped my Bio class but thank goodness I didn't bc he took roll AND went over a ton of stuff. And seeing as how I am refraining from buying the "optional" textbook, that would have sucked.
I'm actually at MWC right now in the Mac Lab, boy how it's changed. Anyway, I'm using the ethernet connection while I wait to go bother Anna before we leave. I sorta want Chik-Fil-A....should I get it? Or wait til driving home to get Wawa...i vote for Wawa. MEEEEMORRRRIIEEESSSSS

I am seriously considering skipping my anthro class. I checked on Blackboard and we're only on the second set of notes-insane. I'm really tired andmy stomach hurts from coughing-bust. So I think I'll go home, sleep a lil then watch tennis ALL DAY LONG! Or, until someone kicks me out. Muhaha. Random Thoughts:

~Just a few days til I'll see Trail of Dead for the, um 7th time? Wow. I'd like to make it 9 with Pittsburgh and Philly again but let's not push (aka scare anybody).
~Ramrod tomorrow nite: Anna and Vanessa, ya'll should come!
~I get my bed this weekend, I have some other ideas of who should visit. Ha, just kidding.
~Or am I?
~I passed the Music Building (sniff) and saw 2 vanity license plates of "FIGARO" and "1MEZZO"
~I am in a 1 hour parking spot and I must decide if I want to come back to the lab or go home and veg. Ummmmm...
~I went to Plan 9 today to get ticket's for Courtney (I have to go back though, bc the guy was on the phone and I couldn't ask, I'm a wuss) and I got a CD-eeeek!
~10 minutes and counting
~I retuned my guitar some weird way bc I am convinced that is what is holding my creative juices from flowing: conventional tunings.
~I have GOT to get a bass amp....yet my plans will have to wait as I just shelled out a ton of money today for rent and the deposit.
~I'm wearing my new TOD shirt tomorrow (so Anna, if you DO come down, don't wear yours, ok?)
~i absolutely cannot wait for the leaves to change and for it to get cold. I MISS MY SWEATERS
~Ali got her Learner's-CONGRATS.
~i had spaghetti for lunch and it was goooood....I love the microwave.
~I took cough syrup and it's making me super thirsty.
~oh my gawd, tennis comes on CBS tomorrow.....I can't wait. Even if Capriati and Seles are out of the tourney:(
~5 minutes remain
~My VNH (Vertebrate Natural History) professor is hilarius. He makes those awesome dry humor, almost in passing jokes that I love. Today he said something like "What have we not had much of in the past 3 years?" and he was referring to rain but he said "And let's not get personal here, ok?" HAHAHHA
~I'm going to get maps of Texas and NYC to put on my walls. Goals if you will. And one of Florence perhaps. I heart maps.
~3 minutes
~Call me 540-270-0869..seriously...I get bored when I can't spend hours on end on IM...sad as it is. hehe
~I guess I should get going. The parking police are probably waiting next to my car. I think I'll go home for a bit. But I am sure I'll be back. *sigh*

I am on AIM Express and let me tell you....THIS RULES. I have about 15 minutes til I need to head to Anthro. Then at 12 I get to eat my sandwich which I am really looking forward to. At this time I will also be hoping I don't get a ticket. Haha. It says "no parking wed 11-1" But it has no arrows to designate a large area and I'm not directly under it. I think it should be ok, maybe I will go cehck to be sure. But gosh, it's hot outside and I hate it. i have stats at 2 and Life Science at 4. Then I think I'll go get Courtney's tickets at Plan 9 and try not to buy anything fo rmyself-SO HARD. I just realized my shirt has something on it, eek, how embarassing. Whatever shall I do.
Man I dont feel so well. I have a cough now. And I'm tired.
I'm gonna go check on tennis scores.

Sadly, I really miss IM. Where the hell are the VCU computers with AIM! DAMMIT! I psuedo moved into the new digs yesterday. And I say psuedo bc I dont really have any furniture there yet: no bed, desk, tables, etc. But I do have my stereo, internetless computer, bass and guitar, and enough clothes for the Army. So how can I complain? Ok, I know- My throat hurts. And I have a horrible headache and I couldn't sleep last nite. And I need to go to the grocery store but I dont feel like it yet-Later.
Since I'm sorta sans IM at the moment, please email me. I'm gonna go get some chick-fil-a now (hopefully) and go home and veg. Oh yeah, I need to check whats up with TENNIS!

Friday's nite show as great. Queens of the Stone Age canceled bc of a drummer problem (erg Dave Grohl) but Trail of Dead played on and got a DC band called French Toast to play (has a Fugazi guy in it). Anna and I got to the 9:30 Club early enough to get ahead in the line and exhange our tickets for the vouchers we get to use when QOTSA and TOD come back! YAY! Anyway, we got our prime veiwing spots up front and then waited-a long time. But that wait was bearable as I got to talk to Conrad for a little bit. He said that since Dave Grohl dropped out so late their replacement drummer didn't have enough time to learn the stuff or something. And C was worried people wouldn't come, yeah right-it was PACKED. I told him they should play for like 2 hours then play some covers then take requests then bring some people up to play with them, hehe. And I offered Second Accounting Cycle to open for them the next nite in Philly since it was a last minute show and they weren't sure of an opener. But he said to get some songs together and you never know;) Ok so, the show was...AMAZING. Really, really, really good. Wow. The set list was a bit different than the other times we've seen them bc they didn't play Relative Ways, Mistakes and Regrets or Mark David Chapman. Hmmm. I'm thinking they're maybe saving those for when they come back, so they have some different stuff for that time. But they did play Days of Being Wild which was AWESOME. Some highlights include: Jason climbing the speakers and contemplating jumping off, Neil playing bass while lying on his back flopping around, Aged Dolls-I thought that was especially good. Cons would include the idiots who climbed onstage and instead of just stage diving they thought it would be "cool" to stand right next to Conrad and make retarded faces, sigh. And the guy who stage dove with a lit cigarette, that guy sucks. I don' understand the pushing moshing, so dumb. Ok, so then we talked to them afterwards and said we were going to go see them at the Khyber in Philly the next nite and they all offered to put us on the guest list, haha. It's sort of funny bc Kevin offered first and Anna gave him our names, then we talk to Jason and he offers, and then Conrad does. Haha. *heart* So last nite we went to Philly. Left Fredericksburg at roughly 4:30ish (stupid Route 3 traffic) and got there at about 8ish. Good thing I had some navigational sense last nite, woohoo! We were indeed on the guest list BUT I realized I had left my license at home! OHMY GAWD..and he wouldn't accept a college ID so thank goodness I had my learners in my wallet and that worked. Philly is a LATE city and TOD didn't even go on til midnite so we went and walked around and got a piece of pizza then went back to the club at about 10PM. Ok, the first band was pretty good, reminded me of Grandaddy a little. Second band was different. Only 2 guys but it had drums, keyboards, bass and guitar and seriously 10 effect pedals. Holy Cow. It took them forever to set up and then they had some technically difficulties which sucked, poor guys. Anyway, then TOD went on-WOOHOOO! They were really good, the sound wasn't as good as the 9:30 club but that's just bc its a small club. They played the same set and Jason even said that to us in the middle of the show, haha. I didn't mind. That stage is super small and they kept running into the walls and falling into the crowd and stuff. It was really good. At one point Jason invited people up to dance and Conrad and Neil were like "WTF?" but then got into it and about 10 people were up there dancing. But they had to be stupid and push around and get all in the guy's junx-boo. Then at the end they finished and everyone was yelling for them to play more and Jason decided they should, woohoo. So he got the other guy's back up there but Conrad was AWOL for like 5 minutes, hehe. But he came back and they played more and it was awesome and amazing and a really fun Saturday nite:)
AND Johanna came by and surprised me and I got to see her and meet her sister, that was nice. Too bad it was like 2:15 when we got out of there so we couldn't exactly hang out with her. Bust. I got home at 7AM and by then the sun was coming up and I wasn't even tired anymore, insane.
More details later as I remember them.
XO,
scarlet
