About Bruce Willis-I love him and when I turned on CBS and saw him in front of the plastic thing (why was that there?) I was so confused (bc I missed the first few minutes) but excited to see him. I think he did a grand job. But I pose a question....What do you all think about John Mayer? He won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal or something but I dunno..I just don't see anything special. Please let me know if you're a fan. I can't watch him sing because he makes funny faces. Oh but that comedian was great I thought! I just ADORE Kelly Ripa! She's so cool, I was checking my email when I saw a link to "Kelly Ripa becomes a mom again" and I thought, "but she JUST started her break from Live, she couldn't have had it already" oh but she did and guess what they named him....JOAQUIN! So awesome.
In other news, I got an 80 out of 90 on my slide in genetics lab today which is sooooo good because it's the most difficult one and most people still haven't been able to even find the salivary glands on the maggot (yes, maggot). So I was really happy but I couldn't show it bc then my classmates might hate me. See, there's this girl who is obnoxious and last time she got an 80 on a slide and were were all struggling and she kept saying, "But what can I do to get a higher gradddeeee?" arg. So I didn't want to be like that, hehe.
It's snowing right now, finally...but not sticking to the roads which is so lame.

I'm looking through the archives and collecting my favorite blogs from the past year. Wow, We really blog a lot! Especially in the beginning when it was me, Jules and Van. See, I bet you newbies didn't know that my home girl Vanessa used to blog here too. In fact, Jenn blogged once or twice two and we even had a while when guests could blog but that didnt' really catch on, oh well. It's kind of overwhelming going through all the blogs though so I'll have to finish later.
Man, tonite was so good! My mom made a great dinner of chicken burritos at my birthday request and then we had cake and ice cream and...PRESENTS! So, Ali gives me hers first and what is it? A TEXAS LICENSE PLATE! Oh.My.Gawd. She won't tell me how she got it but I was so excited my eyes started watering and I pretended like I didn't need any other presents, hehe. I haven't decided what to do with it, I feel like putting it on my wall isn't enough. My dad said, "Don't try to switch it with your VA ones" haha. I also got a new clarinet ligature I've wanted for awhile which should inspire me to play more. I really need to get "it" back-"it" being the ability to play. I also got some black and white film which is exciting and... a scanner! YAY! I knew I was getting that but I'm super excited to get it home and start scanning everything and eventually getting a webpage going or something. My crappy scanner broke awhile ago and I've missed having it=/ Oh, and did I mention my brother gave me a George Foreman grill last nite? SO COOL! Anyway, another great birthday:) A little embarassing when my blown out candles made enough smoke to hinder my vision though, ha.
Tomorrow Ali and I have a big shopping date, we're both so looking forward to it! It's hilarious because she hasn't had school all week and is going stir crazy from being stuck at home all week. She actually teared up and said she wanted to go back to school. I was almost worried.

I was pleasently surprised last nite at the 929 show that I went to. I really didn't expect to enjoy the bands that played....Locust something and Saint Diablo. I bet if it had been crowded and I had to stand up for 5893 hours I would not have liked it, haha. I went to see Vinyl Epitaph, James' band and Buck was supposed to play a song too. The line up was kind of weird though because they went last, for whatever reason. They did a good job although their singer was a little...ok very drunk. Ha! But it's always cool to watch people you know play a show. I took a few pictures but I was waiting for Buck's song to take more but then right before the last song they turned the lights off and said it was over, bust. Oh well, next time.
So just to comment on all of these "reality shows" that are all the rage now...I can totally call them all! They're edited the same way and even the "rumors" that leak are all the same, it's kind of funny. Ooooh, Tonite is Friends and ER, and I guess I also have some work to get done so I can have a fun filled birthday celebrating weekend at home! YAY!
I made a realization last nite about facial hair and hats.....Nothing new, it just goes along with studded belts.

Something minor that bothers me:
So why is it that the people on the news always complain about the weather? During the winter they act like cold weather is this horrible thing and make a HUGE deal about snow....Um, Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt that common for winters in this part of the country? And then during the summer they rate hot days with lower numbers than unseasonally cool days. Seems to me like we should be happy to get the "seasons" and the weather that comes with it. And we have spring and fall for complaining because those are the season's of "change" so it's ok to complain one day about it being hot and another about it being cold. If people are so put out my cold or hot weather (whichever or..both) than maybe they should move! Get out of here and stop complaining! If John Stossel were on this blog he'd say, "Give me a break!:

OK, first things first: The 451 Family Blogiversary is coming up quickly, Sunday I think. So to commemorate this grand occasion Jules and I have some plans in the working. Either she or I will get back to you on that though.
This dumping of snow, or slightly lack of in Richmond, is the TALK at the moment. I'm jealous of those in NoVa because I love snow, especially when it get's you out of school. I only got a delay today and had to trek (literally) to my lab at 1PM. Let me tell you, walking through slushy snow is like walking in the sand for about 15 blocks or so...It's hard work! I'm beat. I also managed to step into a puddle that was at least 6 inches deep on my way there so I got to sit through lab with squishy shoes and then walk all the way back with them. Oh well. I'm a trooper! Note to self: Dig out car later.
I just talked to my mom and she said it can be my birthday all week:) That's why MY mom rules! I'll do a better wrap up on the weekend later. I need to go lay down and give my full attention to Oprah, haha just kidding.

My mom didn't let me have too many birthday parties when I was younger and now I can see why...It sucks when the weather rears it's ugly head and messes up plans, it sucks. I'm so impressed with my friend's from outside of the Richmond area for braving the roads and coming down to hang with me: Vanessa, Pat, Nick and Courtney! Along with Andrew and Robert they totally rule. I'm sad the Hey Mercedes show got canceled tonite, totally lame but I bet it was bc hardly anyone would go. I would be there though and that is all that counts. No school tomorrow though which is lovely but I hope I dont go crazy during the day=/ I'm definitely venturing out, even if it's just to use the Starbuck's gift certificate my mom sent me for Valentine's Day, awesome.

Nothing specific to blog about which probably means this will be long (sorry). Here are a few things I'd like to comment on:
1. This whole "buy duct tape and plastic" crap is stupid. This guy on the news yesterday said, "yeah, You still need ventilation or you'll suffocate" haha....so true.
2. When I get bored I look at livejournals of friend's and their friends. A very annoying trend I've noticed is being melodramatic. Do I do that too? I've had a few moments where I'm freaking out but for the most part I like to think my less positive blogs have an air of humor around them. If not, oh boy am I sorry.
3. American Idol is the most annoying thing ever. Yes, I've been watching and say what you will I don't watch it because I'm excited about this "new pop singer" but because at first it was entertaining and now well, there's nothing else on. Having said that, the voting is WACK! Mr. 205 himself was NOT the best yet and Kimberly couldn't even sing a new song. It's so stupid.
4. People get so worked up over Valentine's Day....and what I mean by this is all depressed. Who cares if you don't have a big date on the Pink Day. What makes you forget about that every other day of the year;)? We all need to go back to when we were in grade school and we gave most everyone Valentines. Ali made me a heart, it's really pretty and has glitter:) Glitter makes everything better!
5. Don't leave your "Now Hiring" sign up if you're not hiring, thanks.
6. Gas is realllllllly effing expensive and I guess it's going to get worse, huh? It's hard to shop for cheap gas in the city bc a) it's all expensive and b) people are always in too much of a hurry to let me think about where to go;)

I'm really annoyed right now and let me explain why: You know when you're in class and you have a stupid question? Well, first you ask somebody else (duh) and then if you have to you ask the teacher. But you don't say "I'm stupid and didn't read the lab can you explain this to me?" No no, You word it so you don't sound like an idiot, am I right? Oh I am! SO in BioTech Lab today we were doing this crap with DNA and see, we're supposed to make Flow Charts of the procedure to follow during lab so that I guess we have it in our own words to follow and it shows we read the lab. Well, I DID THAT and my lab partner did not! (And my TA warned us to always have it or she'd give us a quiz)...Ok, so...for this one part in the lab they give the recipe for this mixture and then they give it in the protocol. So we were following along and put everything in based on the recipe and there was one part we got confused on bc later in the protocol they tell you its mixed together or something. So my lab partner asks the other groups but she can't ask a normal question, she sort of throws out information that is sort of about what we're doing but the other groups are like "what".I usually just keep my head down so they don't associate us together although that's hard since we're friggin lab PARTNERS! Ok, so after figuring that one part out we weren't sure about when to put the "stop mixture" in but while I was looking at my flow chart and seeing that we had to wait til after the 30 minute incubation period she was raising her hand to ask my TA! AHHHH, So the TA comes over and I practically answer her bc i know what we're doing but whatever...and THEN my TA is like, "Do you guys read over the lab before you come to class?" and "Do you have flow charts?" and while I'm saying yes my partner is like no, so I don't know if she realizes I did the stupid work and then she says she's giving us all a quiz next week because she "warned us". Now, I dont care if we have a quiz bc I have the stupid flow charts and it will be an easy 100 but I don't want her thinking I'm slacking. I'm quite annoyed, if you couldn't tell already, and thank goodness after next week we switch partners. I'd rather work alone.
One good thing about lab: My TA got an interview for Vet School today and it was really cute how excited she was and some of her research friend's brought her wine and flowers. It was sweet. However, she didn't open and share the wine=/ Bust;)

And yet, I still managed to have a fun filled evening filled with winning pool with Cara, watching my friends sing, and getting roughly 2 free beers:) I was telling Jesse last nite about how sometimes I forget about my facial expressions. What I mean by that is sometimes the look on my face is exactly what I'm thinking and that's not always a good thing. It's actually pretty funny, it goes along with my inability to NOT roll my eyes, haha. I think I have my look of "disgust" down pat, ha. There's something to be said about an online journal that reads like a coffee commercial with characters and that is: beautiful. I must keep my vicarious living under my cryptic overtones but I will say this, Totally not what I expected but it's so awesome!

So here's the question I've been pondering for awhile, Do I feel 23? The answer is most definitely no. Let me point out that this is not a bad thing, or a good thing for that matter, it doesn't really matter at all. My reasoning: Jobeth is 23 but she's "engaged" to my brother and has a real job and has a lot of life experience I think (living on her own, etc), The people on the Real World are all about 22 or 23 and they all just look older. It's weird. Maybe it's being on tv but they all wear these clothes that nooe I know wears. (And don't anyone make fun of me for citing the Real World). My 2 good friends from sophomore year MWC were married by the time they were 23 which is the most frightening thought for me-MARRIAGE? yikes! I have a whole lot of messing up to do before I get hitched.
Ok, I'm bored with this topic and I just saw a commercial for the episode of Friends with Brad Pitt on it so I'd rather talk about him (and his hotness). So Brad Pitt is hot.

Something that frustrates me: When people don't finish a race strong. I'm watching speed skating for some reason and it bothers me when they just ease into the finish, Wouldn't it make sense to push THROUGH the finish line? I see this in swimming a lot to, You have to make your finish really strong, don't just glide in. Of course exhaustion is a good reason not to, ha, but you shouldn't ease up until after the finish line.
So, I've decided to write a book on how to pick people up in a bar. Not that I have the talents, unless I do a role-reversal and adopt the slut attitude. So I'm going to do some observing and maybe interviews and then wrie a manual on pickup lines in a bar. hehe...this should be fun.

This cold wouldn't be too bad if I didn't have the worst headache ever. Its even making my teeth hurt and then that makes my wisdom teeth hurt and then everything hurts:( But I *have* to be better by tomorrow for Mandy's Senior Art Show "Portal" (5-7pm for anyone in the area) and then for Spirits with the "gang". It's so not attractive to have to carry around tissues all nite..ugh. "Sneezings not so bad, unless you're Scarlet"
Today was so-so, I said I wasn't going to complain (by the way, everything went very well) so I'll just share some facts: Got up at 6:50 am...Took Nutrition test that I hadn't really studied for bc of headache...Genetics which I was only going to go to half of because of said headache but I ended up staying bc I was actually awake and he was showing cool pictures...Came home and slept off and on til about 4 when my mom called to check on me "Have you been crying?" "No, mom. I have a cold" "Do you want me to get Jesse to bring you some soup?" (aww) "No, I want Pantera Bread" "Awwww, You go get that and get warm" "Yay! Ok"...Got Pantera Bread, well...first I stalled on 195 in rush hour traffic which was *lovely*-good times. Thank goodness it happens to me all the time so I know how to handle it. Got my amazing Frontega Chicken sandwich which I definitely needed for those essential amino acids...Came back here, watched Friends with Cara and Robert...Courtney M came over..watched the Michael Jackson special which was disconcerting at some times and just sad at others...Watched ER which is amazing and I can't wait til next week...Listened to Bon Jovi...And now I'm blogging. Ta da! My whole day=)
Tomorrow I only have Ornithology, ok thats a lie...there is a Genetics review BUT I dont have the same book as them so I'm afraid it will be the type of review where she helps you individually with your problems. I just want to go listen and watch while she does them. That's how I learn, otherwise I get all apprehensive about doing them wrong while they watch or something. And the girl who does the sessions is my new friend, Lisa...the one I sit next to in Genetics Lab-I don't want her knowing I'm stupid.

Wow, Today was long once again. I didnt get much sleep last nite (read ahead) and then I struggled through my 8 and 9:30AM classes, raced home to do my homework and then had a pretty long and involved lab for Bio Tech where we had to isolate DNA and I had to put up with a slightly incompetant partner. Now I make my own fair share of stupid mistakes/statements but almost using 100mL instead of 100uL is um, not so good. But I'm done now and the rest of the week is much easier (except for that pesky test on Thursday) and I can just look forward to Friday:) But first...
Last nite me, Robert, Courtney, Cara and Katie went to karaoke at Penny Lane Pub. They've been going for awhile but I was on break and then the last Monday I was in NYC so this was my first time, I was a virgin Penny Laner. Actually, I guess I'm still no slut bc I didn't sing last nite but let me tell you why. I can't sing. Like, I can sing along to music when I'm by myself and I can be loud and confident but take away the vocals to match and add in people staring at me and I have no sense of music at all, and that's bad since I have the ol' music degree and all=/ I feel like something's expected of me bc of that, even though I'm not a vocalist. I guess since I can tell what sounds bad is good at least. Better than thinking you sound really good and actually being "the worst singer in America" (American Idol tonite, but now's when it starts sucking bc people vote on who stays, lame) ANYWAY, So We've established that I didn't sing but everyone else did and they did great jobs. I was more intrigued by the hot "drunk guy" in the corner who managed to stare into space for more time that I thought was possible, Just what was he looking at? I'm working on a plan to be his friend...er acquaintence...er hook up in the back of the bar. Wait, Did I just say that? hahah. Just kidding, I'd *never* do that...*wink*. OK, Well...I just don't know if I can sing...alone that is. With someone, definitely. But other highlights from the nite are the free beer I got and seeing the guy from my lab who said hi:)

Ok, this guy on Oprah just said, "I knew that only 10% succeeded" and Oprah said, "That means 90% fail"..hey, at least she's earning her billions;)

7. I'm really tired bc I was up really late "studying"
6. It's not Friday.
5. It's Monday, ew.
4. I was late to Lab bc I felt really sick this morning and had to lay down before I could leave=/
3. I couldn't make a good single layer of onion root cells in Genetics Lab til the very end and then they weren't stained very well...but I still got 75/90 and 80/90! Yay! Haha, This one girl though, made a good slide and got 85 out of 90 then she was SO obnoxious and kept asking Dr. Wu "Is it possible to get HIGHER than a 90????" Ugh, the girl near me said, "That girl needs to effing shut up!" It was great.
2. Lab Practical had some tricky ones on there....and I was sort of rushed.

So in my dream last nite Bob Nanna and I assume the rest of Hey Mercedes came and stayed at my cabin (?!). I remember saying "Can I come out with you?" when he went out on the porch and he said, "Oh you better" and then there were these 2 girls (1 being the girl from Dawson's Creek?) who kept getting in my way and being annoying. I don't remember much else, Oh yeah except I was trying to rearrange my room with the input of the Nannster.

5. I had an Amaretto Sour Friday nite and now it's my goal to have a job during which I can drink....So far all I can think of is rockstar....
4. Anna's party was another success, in my opinion! Next up....15 February!!!! WATCH OUT WORLD!
3. Last Count Me Out show was really good music wise, mosh wise it was painful and people weren't considerate. Oh well, cute RVAers jumped on my head...it's all good;)
2. My horoscope didn't work out as I had hoped, however I had an amusing second of eye contact with "someone" and a raincheck to make out on the bar with Andre;), I also got a lap dance...sort of.
