So Conducting pissed me off. I had that piece nailed in my room but in true Scarlet fashion I effed it up. Actually, that's not true Scarlet fashion. I rule. Dr. Baker said "You have a great sense of the rhythm and an uncanny reluctance to not show change" :( BUT I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone in the lab is hard at work, but not me. I need to go back to my room bc that is where my paper is. On my computer. Waiting for me. For ME!
Why does my entire body have to hurt? It's like this big rotation of pain. First its my wrists, then my lower back, then my left shoulder, now my left elbow-Do you see the pattern? Oh and let's not forget my intercostals which are hurting. Actually I dont think thats what they are. The intercostals are in between ribs? My latissimus dorsi is a little sore I think too. My gastrocnemius muscles never hurt by the way. It's a gift. But I did get shin splints my senior year during tennis. Ow! That comes back sometimes too, suckage.

So, so tired. I feel like I've been getting thru the past few days solely with naps. I mean, last nite I slept for 3 hours, that's not "going to sleep" that's "hmm, I think I'll take a nap". It sucks. My botany was ok, multiple choice was easier but I never know how I do on the lab part, I go really dumb the second I look in a microscope.Now I am preparing for my Conducting final, I think I can rock it with the quickness. I might ask if I can turn my Paper in tomorrow because, i can finish it but I am afraid I will miss stupid things bc I am so out of it. Speaking of me being out of it, I definitely was dizzy during half of the morning, haha. I need to go conduct more. Wouldn't it be funny if I went off the wall and made programs for my final and handed one to Dr. Baker and then I was wearing this really nice dress, or better yet a tux. And I got a friend to come be the MC and Andrew could be concertmaster and tune the "imaginary" orchestra. wow, That would be classic.

I just made the decision that I am ready to put a sticker on my guitar, not a band one though. Liars suck!

It's one of those moments where I don't want to do anything productive and I can't think of anything unproductive to do. And my room is dark (rm is asleep) so that makes me want to sleep. SLeeping passes the time, hmm. But Regis and Kelly is on, well, only for 10 more minutes. But then it's The View-you know I like R+K more than The View now;) Last day of classes is going so-so: Botany was boring but we got out a few minutes early and then Conducting was just me and Karen and we had to sit on stools (sp?) bc the chairs are all in Dodd. But Dr. Baker has the weirdest memory or something bc I write down exactly what he says about a part in the piece and then when he asks how to conduct it and I repeat it verbatim he says "Uhhh, no" WTF?! Then he wonders why I don't volunteer the answers. I think now I shall research what the piece is (it's a secret bc we aren't supposed to listen to it on our own, muhaha!) I can do it!
Today, as Jules mentioned, is the Block Party on Rowe Street. Should be fun no matter what because of the cool peeps who will be there. Wohooo!

Is there a reason why I have been unable to wake up at a reasonable time the past two days? Sheesh. ButI had some good dreams last nite (names may be withheld):
~In the first one I remember the orchestra is having a rehearsal but it's in a church and I am playing this huge saxophone that is not exactly the barry but it's as long but twisted more, so weird. But then I decide I want to go to California with my mom so I decide to leave and I tell Mandy (who also is in orchestra, weird) to tell Dr. Baker some excuse for me. But then I start feeling guilty about skipping orchestra rehearsal and try to call my mom on my old cell phone to check on when we need to leave by. I don't know why it wasn't with my new phone, but anyway....then my mom called in real life so in my dream the phone started to ring and that's when I woke up.
~In the one I had right before I woke up a bunch of us were sitting outside on some steps and Andy Gale was telling lots of stories and smoking. The smoking was an important part bc he kept throwing down the half smoked ends but wouldn't put them out bc he wasn't wearing shoes. And I was getting worried someone would get hurt. And Vanessa took one of them once and was smoking it or something and almost burnt people a few times, hehe. Then she started saying "Just make out with him!" to me about an unnamed person. But I was laying on the steps covered in a blanket just trying to sleep. There are some more details but I'd prefer not to reveal them, MUAHHAHAHHAHA!
Anyway, I sort of want to go back to sleep but I must resist. But I guess it would be ok if I took a shower THEN slept bc it would technically be a nap. hehe.

The frat party was actually fun. despite the slow first hour and the 100+ degree temperature. Dancing to Freebird and Welcome To The Jungle just about made my nite. Italian coordinator, watch out. I got to break out my Axl Rose dance (keepin it in the family!). It was also fun later dancing with Kristy, Ivy, Kate and the other peeps. I wish they would throw more dance parties, I miss them. Vanessa definitly got drunk;) I just took her to Wawa, I needed gas anyway. I wish I had money for food though, bust. I have to get up at 7 (AGAIN!) to move my car, but it's ok bc then I can go back to sleep for as long as I want.
Had some interesting IM convos earlier tonite, Gotta love it when you hit "enter" at the wrong time, oops. It's ok though. After orchestra party is ON tomorrow! wooohoooo! Then Saturday I am taking the lil sis to some show at a park near where we live. She only wants to see the one band and she wants to show me offl, hehe. I've been told to wear a cool band shirt and my converse. Yes Ma'am! But it's all worth it because my mom is being nice enough to do some of my laundry between now and then, go mom go.
I'm not sure what's going on Sunday, let's see...Oh yeah, Orchestra picnic, should be nice (as long as it isn't gross and hot). Then only 2 more days of class then exams! I hope you all realize that I detest school more than anyone and can't wait to be done but if you know the Hellish Stress (yes its a proper name now) I am under you might understand why I am sort of wishing time would stop, or better yet back up. But alas, that won't happen so I am going to have to pull something out of "Scarls' Hat O' Magic" (wtf) and survive, I can do it. I CAN! MY EFFING GLASS IS TOO BIG! (hehe)

It was horrible. And it's gross now too and I keep sneezing and my eyes itch.

The nite (besides Tia's) was not just left handed scissors but just two pieces of metal that don't go together and have very dull edges. The thing to cap off my night (these "bad nights" are turning into weeks) is the fact that there were no parking spots so now I have to get up at effing 7AM to move my car. "Why didn't you park in another lot, Scarlet?" Well, because as I was pulling into the Sunken Lot like 5 guys were in my way and would not move and when they finally did I went around then really fast because I am in horrible spirits and am allowed to be but they yelled after me! So then I was sort of scared to walk in the middle of the nite alone. I did manage to remember to bring in my laundry detergent though so I *will* have something to wear tomorrow. Phew. However, it's supposed to be almost 100 degrees tomorrow, WTF!? I don't want to bring the blog down so I am going to go now...

I was annoyed because I hate biology and noone told me 4 years ago that it sucks worse than Hitler and I shouldn't have majored in it.
You don't suck at tennis, you were great. I definitely am not at top form (let me take this point to blatantly point out that I was MVP my senior year=) haha) Usually if my backhand is on then I play well but my reaction time sucked yesterday, like you'd hit the ball and I wouldn't realize I had to go to it til it bounced, oops. But yes, tennis on Friday-def! And I liked the idea of a sporting get together sometime bc I want to take certain people on in tennis, and some volleyball would be fun too.
I woke up at 7:23AM this morning and had to move my car, if I had gotten a ticket I think that would have been the end of it and I just would have driven back to Bumpin' Bealeton and hid under my bed. Speaking of Bealeton, it's going to suck when I am there over the summer so everyone who lives in NOVA and the Fred/Stafford area better keep in touch with me, you guys can all come hang out with me at the pool I "work" at. I have to get ready now, I am in complete denial that it's supposed to be like90 degrees today. I was telling Vanessa yesterday how I can't even comprehend how people like warm (hot) weather *jules* because most people still complain about it. It's gross, who wants to feel all warm? ew. Fall is superior (I'd say Winter but I know you'd never agree with me on that one).

I'm also getting hungry, whew-soccer takes it out of ya! Ok, I will work til 6:15..then go get dinner then work more til the meeting and I should be done with at least one of the papers! Right? Right. Yuck, it's hot as balls in here and I can't put my fan directly on me because of (surprise surprise) my effing allergies. I am such a loser with these damn allergies, does noone in the world suffer from them? I don't understand, no seriously I don't understand!?!?!!!!!!!!!! I wish my parents were here to take me out to eat again, hehe. But I am not allowed to spend money on food, only alcohol.....Oh I know how to procrastinate. Here are the weeks plans as far as I know and can remember:

I think I am in love with the boy at the Eagle's Nest who wears his hat off center. Not really, but he's really cute (for looking like a 12 year old) and he's always really nice to me and gives me extra tomatoes on my burrito=)

One hour until my soccer game, we're playing for the T-Shirts....and the Championship! I just hope I can find something clean to wear.
Last nite Julianne and I (and a bunch of other people) went to DC for the Mousetrap-the Brit Pop Dance Night at the Black Cat. Have I mentioned I love the Black Cat? haha..unfortunately my ticket guy was not there, bust. It was a weird Mousetrap night though because all of the guys seemed to be gay (or ugly as Julianne commented) and cute Richmond did NOT come, ahhh! The DJ was kind of off too because I did not hear any Blur, wtf...and where was my Common People? But it was a fun nite, if not tiring...we got back at about 3AM (second nite in a row). We had a few moments of weirdness there (hah) especially when that old guy came over to our group of like 7 girls and he just started dancing next to us but we all just ignored him until he finally left. I told Jules to dance with him but she wasn't into it,hhaha. There was also the guy next to us whose dancing style emulated a siezure;)
I need to get ready for soccer now...

Last Night:
Van and I exited Fredericksburg at about 7 and headed to *undisclosed location* to do some stalking which was semi successful, one day it will turn into the best day of my life. Anyway, we got to the Black Cat at roughly 8:30 to find out that the show was sold out, SOLD OUT? WTF...Since I had already boughten a ticket we decided just to wait and either Vanessa would hang out in the bar aread and flirt her way up or we'd sneak her in. At 9:30 they started letting people in and once I got my hand stamped I grabbed Van's hand and got some ink on her. And you know, as I think back about it, we were lucky we got it on your RIGHT hand bc that's the one they make sure to stamp, wow-we rule. I went up first to the show and Vanessa hung out with a friend she saw there and I think was lucky enough to find a ticket stub to insure her way in. I of course had headed right to the front of the pack but unfortunately couldn't get next to the stage-erg *streak broken*. That's when I saw Vanessa and I was really excited bc I didn't want her to have a bad time and not be able to get in. Ok....so the show..
The Detachment Kit sounded a lot like Thursday, they had that screamo sound but their songs were more rock sounding? I dunno. They were good and that's all that matters. The bass player was an animal and would dance up on his toes and scream at various times, not even in the microphoe, he just screamed, haha. This is the point in the nite where I learned my camera battery was dead....and then realized that when in Manual Focus mode it doesn't require as much battery juice, YES! So, I took tons of pics but we'll see if any are in focus. If not I will call them artsy.
Thursday was awesome, and rough. The crowd started pushing forward while they were setting up, ugh. Especially these two obnoxious guys behind us. Their first song was "Understanding In A Car Crash" and it was SO rough because that's the song everyone knows and all of the teeny boppers went crazy pushing and stuff. We stuck it out in the crappy moshing for a few songs but then got pushed out. I ended up staying my the speaker with a ghetto ear plaug made out of a napkin to protect my eardrum and Van went over by a pole and talked to the guy she knows. Their set was great though and I knew every song, even the ones from the first album. *so good*
Sparta was my surprise for the evening. I was really tired and my whole body hurt but I love At The Drive-In so I figured I'd like them. But whoa.....SO GOOD! The guys voice was awesome, it was always right on pitch and he had this great ability to scream-sing which I just love! And when the backup guy would sing it sounded realllllly good. I am tempted to go see them tonite in Philly but since it's probably sold out AND tonite is Mousetrap I think I will have to pass. *ack*
We did get to talk to a few of the members afterwards but there was different atmosphere than most of the shows that Anna and I go to. I think it was the age of the crowd. Thursday has their big MTV hit now so they are less likely to come talk to people which really sucks. I really wanted to talk to the singer of Sparta but he definitely disapeared, the guitar/keyboard player was super nice though. I bought the Sparta EP and got some stickers:) All in all a very successful nite.
We also managed to go by Pat's party for a few minutes. It was about 2AM so just Buck, Nick, Jenn and Pat were there. We just chatted for a bit then headed home bc I think everyone was exhausted. And some of us have recitals today...Oh yeah...

I had a really good block in soccer today...and the imprint of the ball on my leg to prove it. We actually won today! We are playing in the finals on Snunday, at 1PM=) I love soccer.
So I got a dress today at Lord and Effing Taylor. For only $25! Seeing as how it's so dirt cheap I am not too worried about the imperfections, notable the zipper I sorta broke, oops. But it's hidden so it doesn't matter. Actually I shouldn't tell you this because now you will try to see if it's noticeable.
Mandy and I practiced in Pollard 304 (the site of XDay Of DeathX) and it went very well. Even when Dr. Naylor came in and I was distracted watching him I played the hard parts in the Dvorak correctly! yay! That was the one thing I was worried about. Now, as long as I don't *think* too much and get those crazy "lets change fingerings WHILE I perform" ideas out of my head it will go wonderfully:) Then I can go out to eat with the 'rents and then off to Mousetrap for some Charlie action. Ali isn't coming I don't think so sorry to everyone who wanted to see my DARLING lil' sis.

I am so proud of my bitches: Jules for wowing them at the interview and Van for rocking that speech! I myself had an A-ok day bc we won our soccer game then my bass lesson was tons of fun. I am playing Losing My Religion now:) It's so nice to play SONGS. Speaking of songs, my clarinet lesson went well and I have decided not to worry about the recital at all. There is no use being nervous. All I can do is practice everyday and keep going thru it and it will be fine, I am sure of it. And if I mess up I will insist that's how it was written.
I have nominated Julianne to find me my date for grad ball, good luck girl! Hehe....So yeah, all inquires should be sent to her probably. This comes after Anna reminded me that Conrad will NOT be able to accompany bc he will definitely be in Europe, on tour with my FAVORITE band: Trail of Dead. If Grad Ball and this pesky Graduation thing wasn't happening I would be in Europe too.
Yes, Hard Times tonite...should be fun. It WILL be fun, no matter what! (I wonder how many commas I can use...and ellipses...). I plan on playing pool, eating wings, and drinking H20...ok, maybe beer, but that's it. Should be a great crowd tonite...Cynthia, Brian?, Nick, Jenn, Christopher, Nicole...and ME AND JULES most importantly. The goal is two-fold...find a date and spend minimal amounts of money.
By the way, this date issue isn't as big a deal as I am making it, it's sort of getting to be fun to talk about.

Mandy and I had our first hardcore practice session today, I think it went well. We were both pretty fried though, I kept forgetting how to play Eb, struggle.

Man, but my wrists are definitely feeling the effects of clarinet, computer and bass...UGHHHHH!!!!!! I hope I am up for the flute duets tomorrow nite! I sort of want to go practice...maybe I will before Tia's...mmmm!

I would like to comment on the WONDERFUL weather, this morning was my ideal weather, brisk! That's brisk baby! And you know what, since all of you warm weather lovers got so much warm weather in winter then I think it's only fair for me to get some more cold weather during spring, awesome!

"Yeah, xerox that forever!" These are the actual spoken words of Dr. Baker, my clarinet teacher in my lesson this morning. For those who don't understand the excitement and bewilderment of this phrase let me explain....Dr. Baker is not quick with the praise. For the past 3 years the words I have heard so often "SUPPORT!" "PLAY SOLOISTICALLY!" So, to get a compliment on my style of playing was past amazing!
And I was kind of confused bc on the fast section of my hard piece I definitely was fumbling and had no emboucher left but he said "the cadenza sounded very good" Sometimes I wonder if his hearing is going....

I have to practice my bass now....HOUR LESSON TONITE! It's such a "music" day, and I love it!

So I didn't really sleep last nite, it was more like 5 mini naps bc I woke up just about every hour thinking it was time to get up and then I'd check all 3 clocks I can see and then realize it wasn't 7AM yet. "Why dd you get up at 7AM Scarlet?!?!" Well, bc last nite there was no parking so this morning I had to get up to mve my car from the faculty lot, ugh. And there was still no parking so I had to go to the WIlliam St. lot which is way too far away. I hope I don't forget that later when I go to leave for my lesson. I just noticed that I wrote my last blog at 12:35 AM...and I think I went to sleep at about 1AM and I remember waking up at 1:30AM and thinking it was time to get up, how weird is that?!?!??!??! I was like "Amanda, is it really 1:30???" "Uh, yeahhhh" "That's so weird! I thought I had been asleep for hours" "Uh, noooo" "Ok, goodnite!"
Hahaha!
I guess I should work on my seminar, barf.

It's from the clarineting....and the conducting......and the typing.....and the hour long bass lesson tomorrow nite won't help. But I won't complain. ***Biggest lie of the year***
Tomorrow is a busy, busy day: Move car at 7AM, Clarinet lesson at 9AM, Lunch at 12PM (if I make it, details not here), Botany Lab at 1PM, Seminar at 3PM, Radio Show 4-6PM with and appearance by the CPT!!!! and Van!!! Wooooohoooooo!!!!! I love guests;), Bass Lesson 6:30-7:30PM, then mad work time and maybe 30 or so minutes at Hard Times doing some inviting *baby*.
It's so effing hot in my room I hate it. And I desparatly need to do laundry, as in...before I get dressed tomorrow....hahha, oops!

CONGRATS ON NYU JULES! If you decide to go there then I can defer my VCUness and go to Columbia and we can be roommates. That would be so cool. And they have a great Bio dept. OH! And then I can try to get lessons with that NY Phlharmonic guy. It's so awesome he saw us play at Carnegie, and I am glad I got a chance to talk to him or I never would have realized he's principal clarinet with them.

I was looking at the courses online, Man, I don't really want to take anything, hahah. I want to take orchestration and conducting and Intro to Writing Music...oh wait, I am a Bio major, erg. Where's that "change of major" form? thanks!
Today constists of just one class (seminar) but I really need to get a lot done. My goals: at *least* a good outline for my speech, clarinet for 1 hour, bass for 20 minutes (my poor wrists) and get some info for the damn music history reception paper, barf.
I am in denial about starting the day, hehe, but I guess the time has come to get ready. Peace!
